New name and games for Bangor casino
21.05.12
These new games will also produce more jobs in the casino.
Hollywood Casino General Manager John Osborne said 89 new jobs were created with the added gaming. The new jobs include dealers, table games management, surveillance, casino cashiering and beverage service.
Most of these jobs are going to people who trained for them through Eastern Maine Community College.
"Practically everyone has received an offer from us either on a full time or then maybe a part time or occasion basis. So, it's been a great investment for those individuals and for most of the people going through the program. We worked directly with Eastern Maine Community College and actually provided tuition reimbursement for people who completed the program," Osborne said.
According to Osborne, adding table games is an idea that was in the works for the past few years.
"Our company had planned on table games at some point in the future, once people had gotten had gotten comfortable with us as part of the community and the jobs that we've created, the taxes that have provided the opportunity for the new arena across the street. We felt that at sometime that the community would also be receptive to table games," Osborne said.
